In this series I decided to focus on the mirror, I wanted the mirror to reflect not only the outside world, but act as a reflection to the way we see ourselves and the way that people see each other. I started playing around with composition, replacing the mirror with the face to act as a metaphor for our society and in particular the fashion industry. Fashion allegedly creates this longing for uniqueness and individuality allowing people to show expression through the way they style and physically present themselves. However if the media is constantly bombarding us with images of how we “should look” and the clothes that we “should be wearing” then surely this has become totally the opposite. A culture filled not with uniqueness and personality but a culture of imitation and uniform clones, a society filled with human mirrors of each other based on what the media dictates we should look like.
